Upcoming Art Courses and Classes - April 2023

Original Oil Painting by Jean 2023

Just finished teaching two courses of winterscapes.  Many students produced in my opinion some of their best work - Jean, Terry; Helen and Peter in particular.  The results of this wonderful work can be seen below.  The next round of courses will begin shortly. The dates and subjects are noted at the end of this post.  Thank you to everyone who attended the classes and making them a success.

Student's Artwork & Upcoming Courses 2020

Original acrylic painting by Maria
Over the past few months I have had the pleasure to teach several successful courses - 'Parisian Scenes,' 'Rainy Day Scenes' and 'Children in Art.' Each course started with some historical and contextual background - we looked at and discussed various paintings from other artists.  We finished week one with some tasks such as colour mixing, demos on how to depict rain and the human figure.  The rest of the weeks were spent developing the students paintings and the finished work is shown here.

Upcoming Art Course - Painting Lighthouses

Original Watercolour Sketch by Lee Papworth 2018
My next art course is called 'Painting Lighthouses.'  This is a chance to paint a lighthouse as a focal point of your painting - whether it be on land, on a peninsula or out at sea. It can be set at night or daytime, in stormy weather or brilliant sunshine - the choice is yours!

4 week painting course 'Painting Lighthouses'
(open medium - oils, acrylics, watercolour, gouache & pastels)
Starting Friday 20th April, 10:00 to 12:30pm, Northwood W.I.Hall, £70 cash.

Some of the topics covered - Looking at famous lighthouse paintings and artists, creating a sense of scale and proportion, aspects of perspective (3 point) and the basics of mixing sea and sky colours.

If you would like to join this exciting course please use the blog contact form.  The course is also available as a one-to-one course.  More art courses will follow in May including classes at Bembridge.

Happy Painting!
