Rooftops, Skylines, Watermills and Windmills - Isle of Wight Art Classes

I just had the pleasure of completing the first two courses of this academic year - Rooftops and Skylines along with Watermills and Windmills. 

Both courses were full and everyone that attended created very good pieces of work including Liz's fine oil painting which you can see above which is full of drama and dynamism -  it becomes even more wonderful when you know that Liz is well into her mid to late 80s proving that it is never too late to do what you love and to learn.  The other students wonderful work can of which can be seen below:

Ruins and En Plein Air Paintings - Isle of Wight Art Classes

Also during June and July I organised many en plein air sessions including trips to Bonchurch, Ventnor Botanical Garden, Quarr Abbey and St Helens Church in Nettlestone. These outside events proved very popular and extremely successful.  There will be more coming up throughout September.

Dappled Light Paintings - June 2021

Having recently been allowed to teach again in community halls and village halls I taught two Dappled Light courses that were very well received and attended.  

Firstly, we studied and discussed many great paintings on the subject from the Impressionist movement.  Secondly, I went through with both groups my own thoughts and gave out handouts on the subject - having discussed my notes and their thoughts everyone began their paintings - many our finished and some are in the process of being finished.  

Not all the artworks are shown here, but the ones that are I think you will agree are all excellent work!

I had not painted at all during the last eight months. This was because I felt uninspired by world events. I mentioned this to one of my students and during the course she challenged me to paint one of my Dappled Light paintings.  Above is the finished painting which took roughly eleven hours.  Thank you Kate for giving me the push I needed!

Upcoming En Plein Air Classes - Drawing and Sketching Outside

 

These classes are a fun opportunity to improve your drawing and sketching skills whilst observing your surroundings. I will be at hand to help you get the most from your class.

Each class will take place in interesting locations such as Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Isle of Wight Zoo and St Boniface Old Church.  Why not give it a go and enjoy the experience!
