Thank you for all your efforts - they are fantastic!

As for courses, I may set up a small group course at Bembridge for those that have expressed a wish to return to the classroom in July.  This will be a small group in order to maintain social distancing.

For those wanting to return later I will be setting up courses as usual from mid-September onwards.
One to ones will also be available most likely from July onwards.

Happy Painting & Keep Safe

Painting Lighthouses - May 2018

Original Oil Painting by Liz 2018
I have just completed a four week art course on Painting Lighthouses.  We started by looking at and discussing famous lighthouse paintings ranging from Carl Blechen to Edward Hopper.

We then talked about creating a sense of scale and how to go about doing so within the composition.  This can be achieved in a few ways - the best way is the most obvious which is to either put a figure, house or tree into the composition to show how tall and wide many lighthouses are.  As well as looking at scale we looked a reflections on the water surface and also in mixing up general sky and sea colours.

It was a very successful course which I will be running again in September in Bembridge. The results of the course can be seen below:

Painting London Life - February 2017

Original painting by Jean 2017
I recently taught two open medium painting courses on the subject of London Life (or other major cities).  The classes included students who were new to painting as well as experienced artists.  Some students used conventional oils, water mixable oils and acrylic paints.  It was a difficult subject to tackle as even my experienced students were to realise.  This was because of the combination of architecture (straight lines, perspective) and figures.

After starting with a few of the basics on perspective and proportion of figures, the students prepared their canvases and boards. They went onto to create some very successful paintings at different levels, but everyone learnt a lot along the journey!  Please take a look at their wonderful work....

Learning to Paint Skyscapes - September 2015

Painting by Pam 2015

The works of art shown in this post were created over a four week course called Learning to Paint Skyscapes.  I put together a course on skyscapes as I often get asked by aspiring artists and intermediate artists 'how do I paint clouds and skies?'

The wonderful paintings on this page have been created by beginners and intermediate artists proving that empowering individuals with the correct tools and techniques can create beautiful works of art!
